All-American 2018
AS A JUNIOR IN 2017-18: Metryka continued his success in his junior year with four shutout victories and an overall record 23-14. That record allowed him to fence in the Mid-Atlantic/Southern Regionals where he finished in third, which qualified him for the NCAA championship. Metryka at the championship won 15 of his 23 bouts with a plus 20 indicator, which allowed him a seventh place finish.
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2016-17: Metryka had an awesome second season as a Nittany Lion. He ended the season with a 27-10 record which included four shutout performances. He went on to compete in the Mid-Atlantic/Southern Regionals where he finished in first place and qualified for NCAA Championships. He finished in ninth place at NCAA Championships.
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2015-16: Metryka saw plenty of action his first season as a Nittany Lion. Metryka ended the season with a 24-17 record and went on to the Mid-Atlantic/Southern Regional where he placed 3rd.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Prior to joining the Nittany Lions, Karol Metryka fenced for the New York Athletic Club. Metryka has had international success in his fencing career, winning the Bronze Medal at the Cadet World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2014. Metryka is pursuing a business degree.
