Played in 16 of Penn State’s 17 games during first season of collegiate field hockey...Started 14...Ended year with three points off a goal and an assist.
American (8/27/23): Made collegiate debut in 3-2 win at American. Stanford (9/3/23): Started for first time as a Nittany Lion at Stanford. Michigan State (10/13/23): First collegiate goal in 4-0 win at MSU. Ohio State (11/2/23): First collegiate assist in 4-3 loss to Ohio State in Big Ten Tournament.
PERSONAL: Julienne van Bekkum enters her first season of NCAA field hockey at Penn State after playing at the highest levels in The Netherlands. The Best, The Netherlands, native played club ball for HC Eindhoven, starring as a back. She was first team U16: Super B and made her first appearance at the Ladies 1 level at the age of 16. Van Bekkum was first team U18: Super 8 and helped guide her team to two indoor titles in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Julienne also played Ladies 1 (national competition) from 2020-23. She also play4ed 10 years of high level selection tennis from age 6 to 16. Van Bekkum is the daughter of Jacqueline and Marc van Bekkum. She has two brothers, Marcoen and Florian. Her grandfather, Herman, was a member of the Dutch National Volleyball Team. Julienne is in the Biobehavioral Health program at Penn State. An outstanding student, she is a member of the Socrates International Honors Society from her high school days and completed an internship in Suriname for Minor Global Health.
