Senior Dennis Kraft will head into his final campaign with Penn State hoping to earn his first trip to the NCAA Championships. A superb regular season last year has the veteran fencer ready to lead Penn State in 2007-08.
Lion Career:
2006-07: Kraft posted a superb 27-2 mark in duals last year but an eighth place finish at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals kept him from earning a trip to nationals. Kraft went 4-1, 5-1, 10-0 and 10-0 in duals last year. He upped his career record to 63-31.
2005-06: Kraft went 17-11 overall and placed 12th at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional championships. He posted dual match records of 7-8, 3-0 and 7-3 for PSU during its dual match dates. Kraft was also an Academic All-Big Ten pick.
2004-05: Starting as a rookie, Kraft posted a solid 19-18 overall mark as a freshman. He placed ninth at Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals as well. Kraft[apos]s top performances included two wins vs. North Carolina, Detroit-Mercy, Penn and Columbia.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Kraft was the Pennsylvania state champion in the epee and advanced through 14-15 qualifying to advance to the Junior Olympics.
