Junior Brian Heflich enters his fourth season with the Nittany Lions. After a vast improvement in his epee play, Heflich earned a trip to nationals, but not place.
LION CAREER:
2008-09: Heflich started in the epee for Penn State as a junior and posted a solid 17-14 dual meet record. He placed seventh at Mid-Atlantic South-Regionals and earned a trip to nationals but not place.
2007-08: Heflich finished his second season with a 14-7 duals record in epee competition. His eighth place finish at regionals earned him an alternate spot for the NCAA championships. Heflich[apos]s strongest weekend came at the Penn State Duals, where he went 5-2.
2006-07: Heflich went 1-2 in duals, going 0-2 in December and 1-0 with a win vs. Duke in January.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Very tall and very fast, the powerful Heflich came to Penn State to fence. He fenced at the Mission Fencing Academy, headed by Penn State graduate Jeff Salmon.
