LION CAREER:
2012-13: As a senior, O[apos]Garra qualified for the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional and placed ninth in the competition, earning his first trip to the NCAA National Championships. At the Championships he won 11 bouts to take 14th place. He finished the regular season with a strong record of 33-17. He had four 3-0 performances against strong teams including NYU, Columbia, St. John[apos]s, and Duke. O[apos]Garra placed 35th at the Penn State Garret Open.
2011-12: O[apos]Garra finished his Junior season with a record of 19-26 to qualify for the Mid-Atlantic/South Regional, where he placed 22nd. His season was highlighted by a 2-0 performance against Haverford on January 28th. He also went 2-1 against NYU, Princeton(twice), Columbia, Drew, and Johns Hopkins. O[apos]Garra went 1-0 against Vassar. He placed 2nd at the Garret Open, hosted by Penn State.
2010-11: O[apos]Garra went 5-5 in dual action this season. The sophomore went undefeated against Johns Hopkins University as well as MIT.
2009-10: O[apos]Garra went 2-2 seeing limited action in his first season at the collegiate level.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
O[apos]Garra comes to Penn State from Huntington, New York. He went to Huntington High School where he captained the fencing team for two years. Outside of the school team he fenced under the instruction of Alan Kuver at the Empire Fencing Club. We earned All-Long Island honors, and First Team All County throughout all four years of high school and was named County Champion in 2009.
