BEFORE PENN STATE
Hailing from the Keystone State, Bohner returned home for her final season of collegiate eligibility at Pennsylvania’s flagship institution coming off three consecutive years of two-way success at Towson… Bohner, a native of Danville, Pennsylvania, boasted a careerlong .292 batting average highlighted by a 2024 campaign that saw her hit .305 with a career-best quartet of home runs in Maryland... She amassed 31 doubles in her collegiate career before Penn State in addition to a pair of triples and seven home runs for 40 total extra-base hits since her debut season in 2023… In 2025, Bohner anchored Towson’s defense up the middle, playing predominately at second base while recording a fielding percentage of .959, simultaneously hitting to the tune of a. 289 average with 15 doubles, a triple and home run to her credit… During her collegiate career, Bohner built a .947 career fielding percentage and will look to bolster the Nittany Lion middle infield in the 2026 campaign.
HIGH SCHOOL
As a high school athlete at Danville High School, Bohner was a dominant force to be reckoned with in the batter’s box and in the middle infield… Bohner was a First Team All-Region designee in the 2022 campaign, picked up Second-Team All-State and First Team All-Region honors en route to a District Championship in 2021, and was additionally named a Second Team All-Region Freshman selection in her rookie season back in 2019… Her sophomore season in 2020 was suspended due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic… Bohner handled her travel ball commitments under the direction of coach Heidi Freitager with the Virginia Legends organization… Additionally, she participated in varsity tennis at Danville Area, winning letters in three seasons highlighted by an unbeaten senior campaign at No. 3 singles.
PERSONAL
Born in the spring of 2004, Cara Bohner is the eldest daughter of Melissa and Larry Bohner… She has one younger sister, named Larissa… As a high schooler at Danville Area, Bohner was involved with her school’s chapter of the National Honor Society… While at Penn State, Bohner will look to complete her undergraduate degree in Organization Development and Change Essentials, with the hope of one day utilizing her education to give back to the game of softball as a coach… In her time away from the field, Bohner enjoys playing tennins, lifting, and spending time with family and friends.
