2026 • SENIOR SEASON
Awards: Closed out her collegiate career as both an Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
Season: Appeared in 37 contests while earning 34 starts behind the plate during her senior campaign, serving as one of Penn State’s two primary catchers… Finished the season with a 16 hits, adding four doubles, one triple and two home runs while driving in 15 runs and scoring 14 times… Posted a .341 slugging percentage and .298 on-base percentage while drawing 12 walks and adding a stolen base… Contributed several timely run-producing performances throughout the season while helping manage the Nittany Lion pitching staff behind the plate… Provided steady defensive play, recording 184 putouts and 15 assists while publishing a .990 fielding percentage individually.
vs. Boston College (2/6): Recorded her first hit of the season and drove in a run with a triple. at Houston (2/13): Collected a hit and RBI while reaching base twice. vs. Charleston Southern (2/20): Turned in one of her top offensive performances of the year, finishing 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI. vs. Ohio (2/21): Reached base three times behind a hit and two walks while scoring twice and driving in a run. vs. Boston College (3/6): Authored a two-hit performance while scoring a run in non-conference action. Wisconsin (3/21): Collected two hits, including a double, while scoring a pair of runs. Maryland (4/4): Delivered an extra-base hit, finishing with a double and two RBI. Bucknell (4/14): Reached base twice behind a hit and walk while scoring two runs. at Ohio State (4/17): Added a hit, RBI and walk in Big Ten play. Saint Francis (4/21): Produced one of her strongest performances of the season, launching a three-run home run while scoring once. Nebraska (5/3): Recorded a hit and scored a run in the regular-season finale. B1G Tournament First Round vs. Northwestern (5/6): Came through in postseason play with an ultra-clutch two-run home run while helping Penn State advance to the tournament quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
2025 • JUNIOR SEASON
Awards: Garnered Academic All-Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar laurels in the postseason.
Season: Recorded the strongest statistical season of her career in practically every measure, setting multiple single-season career-best marks throughout while appearing in 43 games and starting 33 for the Blue & White in 2025 behind the plate… Hit to the tune of a .247 batting average while logging a .330 on base percentage and .409 mark in slugging… Amassed 23 hits in her junior season, with seven of those going for extra bases in the form of her first three collegiate doubles and first four college home runs… Amassed 15 RBI and 12 runs scored during her third year in Happy Valley… Booked an unblemished season behind the plate defensively, publishing a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage while racking up 156 putouts to rank second on the roster and adding 10 assists.
vs. Nicholls (2/21): Entered the contest as a pinch hitter and immediately shined, smacking the first home run of her collegiate career over the fence at Tiger Park to help aid PSU in a run-rule win over the Colonels. Fairfield (3/7): Had one of the most impressive individual performances of her career against the Stags, helping Penn State to a 23-0 shutout thanks to a 3-for-4 day at the plate that included a double, two RBI and pair of runs scored. Rutgers (4/4): Was a key contributor on both sides of the ball, going 1-for-3 offensively while anchoring the Nittany Lion defense with eight putouts in a 2-1 series-opening triumph. Saint Francis (4/9): Booked the most dominant performance of her collegiate career against the Red Flash, tying for the most home runs in a single game in school history with two, finishing the day 2-for-3 with six RBI, the third-most single-game RBI in PSU annals. Ohio State (4/13): Was an unblemished 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a double, home run and pair of RBI against the Buckeyes. B1G Tournament First Round vs. Iowa (5/7): Had a multi-hit outing in her first career postseason start against the Hawkeyes, finishing 2-for-4 on the day.
2024 • SOPHOMORE SEASON
Awards: Picked up Academic All-Big Ten accolades in the postseason… Named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar at the conclusion of the academic year.
Season: Made five appearances over the course of her sophomore campaign, including one start against Canisius… Went 1-for-6 at the plate in her second season with the Blue & White, marking her first collegiate hit, run scored and RBI this year… Was a perfect 1.000 catcher behind the plate in her limited opportunities, adding 18 putouts and an assist.
Cornell (3/15): Earned the first at-bat of her collegiate softball career and delivered with an RBI single against the Big Red. Canisius (3/16): Secured her first collegiate start, playing a flawless game behind the dish that included seven putouts and an assist. Binghamton (3/17): Added a run scored and an RBI in Penn State’s win over the Bearcats.
2023 • FRESHMAN SEASON
Season: Appeared in one game during her freshman season.
Canisius (3/18): Made her collegiate debut in an appearance as a reserve catcher in the Nittany Lion win, logging a putout.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played high school softball at Gwynedd Mercy Academy in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania... Was her high school team’s captain in every season from 2019 to 2022... Landed Second Team All-State accolades in her senior season, adding Offensive MVP laurels... Batted .656 her senior year, recording seven home runs, 40 hits, 33 RBI and booked a .475 slugging percentage...Named her team’s Overall MVP in 2021 after batting .336, recorded 112 RBI, leading her squad to a Team CAL Championship title and finishing second in Districts... PERSONAL
A native of Hilltown, Pennsylvania, Madison Seidel was born in the winter of 2004 and is the elder daughter of Carol and Todd Seidel... She has one younger sister, named Sydney... Her father, Todd, was a collegiate ice hockey player at the University of North Dakota... Seidel is pursuing her undergraduate degree in the Penn State Eberly College of Science, majoring in biology, and intends to graduate in the spring of 2026... She plans to attend medical school upon graduation from PSU, with the intent of becoming a doctor... In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, driving, riding ATVs and going for walks.
