New Jersey-native Caitlin Marie Vassoler enters her fourth season at Penn State looking to challenge for starting time in the epee.
LION CAREER:
2009-10: In her third season with the Nittany Lions Vassoler went 9-4.
2008-09: Vassoler did not see any action last year
2007-08: Vassoler finished with a 4-2 overall record in her freshman campaign. Her four victories came against Drew, Cleveland State, Haverford, and Cal-State Fullerton.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: Vassoler has only been fencing for three years. She earned first team all-league, all-county and All-North Jersey laurels during her senior year at Wayne Valley High School. She helped lead her team to a county title as team captain her senior year. An outstanding student, Vassoler was a member of the National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars in both 2006 and 2007. She also wan the Minds in Motion Award, given to an athlete that maintains a 4.0 GPA or higher during their sport season. She fenced at the Lilov Fencing Academy for coach Albert Chikayev.
