Colby Meeks enters his second season as assistant coach with the Penn State women's tennis program in 2026-27 after joining the Nittany Lions in July 2025.
Meeks made an immediate impact during his first season in Happy Valley, helping guide Penn State to 14 dual-match victories and an impressive 12-3 record at home. The Nittany Lions earned five Big Ten wins over Michigan State, Maryland, Rutgers, Purdue and Oregon while advancing to the Big Ten Tournament for the sixth-consecutive season. Under Meeks' guidance, Patricia Grigoras earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District recognition, reflecting the program's continued success both on the court and in the classroom.
Prior to Penn State, Meeks spent the 2024-25 season at Liberty, where he helped lead the Flames to a 12-13 overall record, a 5-2 mark in Conference USA play and a semifinal appearance in the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship. Liberty saw six student-athletes earn postseason all-conference recognition, including the league's Freshman of the Year.
Meeks arrived at Liberty following six seasons as assistant coach at Rice from 2018-24. During his tenure, the Owls established themselves as one of Conference USA's premier programs, consistently appearing inside the ITA Top 55 team rankings. Rice climbed as high as No. 27 nationally during the 2021 season after posting a 15-7 record. The Owls captured the 2019 Conference USA Tournament championship, reached the conference tournament final in 2023 and produced multiple NCAA Individual Championship qualifiers in both singles and doubles competition under Meeks' tutelage.
From 2016-18, Meeks served as assistant coach at New Mexico, helping the Lobos secure a top-eight mid-major recruiting class while mentoring three all-conference performers.
Meeks began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Cameron University from 2014-16. During his time with the Aggies, he earned ITA South Central Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year honors while helping lead the men's program to NCAA Tournament Elite Eight and Sweet 16 appearances.
As a student-athlete, Meeks competed at both Tyler Junior College and Midwestern State University. He helped Tyler capture the NJCAA National Championship before concluding his collegiate career at Midwestern State, where he became an NCAA Division II quarterfinalist and Lone Star Conference champion. Meeks also earned a No. 9 national doubles ranking and was recognized as the Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year.
