Feature Content/On-Air Talent

Description: Students will have an opportunity to contribute feature content for distribution on GoPSUsports.com and affiliated team social media platforms. Feature content may include, but is not limited to, video features, live productions, one-on-one interviews with coaches and student-athletes, podcasts, social media content, and written features. Students in on-air roles will also have an opportunity to participate as event emcees and in Big Ten Plus programming.

Graphic Design

Description: Work with the Penn State Athletics Creative Services department to create high-quality graphics. Interns will be given projects each day they report to the office. Projects may include, but are not limited to, game day graphics, award nominations, career milestones, marketing events.

Marketing & Fan Experience

Description: Penn State Athletics Marketing Interns assist the Marketing Department’s full-time staff in planning and executing game production and promotions at all home athletic events. Interns will have the opportunity to work at all 31 Penn State Athletics events, as well as grassroots initiatives on campus and in the community.

Hiring Cadence: Application opens in February for the 2025-26 school year. If chosen for an interview, students will be contacted to set up a zoom or in person meeting with the two Marketing staff members. If selected for the internship, interns will receive an email with acceptance as well as all onboarding information that will be necessary before beginning.

Photography

Description: Be on the sideline of Penn State Athletics events, shooting photos for our team! Our photography internship incorporates both shooting, editing, and media managing assets for athletics events, where your work will be used across our platforms. Please note that you must provide your own equipment.

Hiring Cadence: Applications are submitted via Workday for review.  If chosen for an interview, students will be contacted to set up a zoom or in person meeting with the point of contact for the program. A background in sports photography, knowledge of editing techniques as well as a portfolio is encouraged.  If selected for the internship, interns will receive an email with acceptance as well as all onboarding information that will be necessary before beginning. Start of each semester both for credit and part-time work available.

Strategic Communications

Description: Provides the opportunity to learn what athletic communication entails by completing in-office hours as well as game day event hours. Interns will assist strategic communications full-time staff members with day-to-day responsibilities of the job including: social media, website management, press releases, game notes, stats, media relations, research and more. Students will have the opportunity to work with several different sports in office as well as work games for a wide variety of sports that Penn State offers. Interns will learn the skills needed to work in the industry while utilizing different platforms such as InDesign, Photoshop, PremierePro, Statcrew/Genius and work on gopsusports.com

Creative Video

Description: If you’ve always dreamed of storytelling through creative video, hype tapes, cinematic recaps, and produced shoots… this internship is for you! Join our creative video team and be a part of sharing the stories of our 31 athletic programs through shooting and editing creative videos of events, practices, and other keystone athletic initiatives.

Live Video Production

Description: The Live Video Production Interns will assist the Penn State Athletics production department in camera and control room operations using the latest HD technology available in sports broadcasting during live sporting event productions. Live events are produced for in-house video boards at the Bryce Jordan Center, Rec Hall, and Pegula Ice Arena. Multi-camera live streams are also produced for BTN.com (B1G NETWORK+ or StudentU) and GoPSUsports.com, with many StudentU events re-airing on the Big Ten Network. Basic training will be provided. This internship is unpaid and must be taken for 1 credit (67 hours minimum). This position does not include duties associated with video board production for home football games at Beaver Stadium. Basic training will be provided.

Football Videoboard

Description: The Football Videoboard internship allows students to assist the Penn State Athletics production crew in producing in-house video board shows for home Penn State football games. Live productions are produced out of the Bryce Jordan Center with cameras located at Beaver Stadium. Must be available to work ALL seven home football games. Basic training will be provided.
