Aden-Buie Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II First Team




UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; November 3, 2006 - In addition to being a 2006 first team All-Big Ten selection, junior forward Aubrey Aden-Buie (Allentown, Pa.) earned the honor of being a member of the ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District squad, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Aden-Buie, who is currently riding a 3.74 GPA in psychology, garnered the academic first team selection in District II, which encompasses the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia as well as the District of Columbia. To be eligible for honors a player must earn a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher, be at least of sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their squad. Aden-Buie now advances to the national team ballot for ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America consideration. Selections for the national team will be announced later this month.

Along with excelling in the classroom, the junior forward has led the No. 12 Nittany Lions offensively this season with 24 points. She has netted 11 goals, including two in the Big Ten quarterfinals against Northwestern. She scored game-winners against Bucknell, Purdue and Northwestern in the Big Ten quarterfinals. Aden-Buie now has 18 goals in her Nittany Lion career.

Aden-Buie is one of six Lions to earn first team All-Big Ten honors this season. She paced the Nittany Lions to their ninth consecutive Big Ten title this year with an 8-1-1 record in the conference and a No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.

The Nittany Lions continue to host the Big Ten Tournament at Jeffrey Field on Friday, Nov. 3, and Sunday, Nov. 5. In the Big Ten semifinals, No. 2 seed Illinois and No. 3 seed Purdue will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with No. 1 seed Penn State matching up with No. 5 seed Michigan.

Single day passes will be sold at the gate during each of the remaining three games. Adult tickets are $6.00 each, with youth, senior citizen and student tickets $4.00 each and a group rate set at $3.00. Groups are defined as 10 or more persons. There are no age requirements for members of the groups.
