UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's tennis team is heading to Flushing Meadows, N.Y., to compete in the Tennis Center College New York Invite this weekend. The team will compete at the USTA Bille Jean King National Tennis Center as one of at least 16 teams.
"I am excited to hit the courts again," said head coach Dawna Prevette. "We have had a nice solid week of practice and I know the team is eager to improve on last week."
Leading the Nittany Lions into the weekend will be junior Lauren Holzberg (Easton, Conn.), who earned a fourth place finish at the Furman Invitational, as well as sophomore Sarah Lotto (Toronto, Ontario) who placed fifth.
Joining them will be senior Jenny Shular (Peachtree City, Ga.), juniors Leyla Morzan (Vancouver, British Columbia) and Dorothy Dohanics (Pittsburgh, Pa.), sophomore Lauren McCarthy (Danbury, Conn.), freshman Denisa Zobeideh (Weston, Fla.) and recent walk-on Julie Raezer.
The competition will consist of four singles flights and two doubles flights with each participant playing at least three singles and two doubles matches.
