UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (Seymour, Conn.) grabbed her second player of the week honor from the Big Ten after shutting out the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday en route to clinching its 10th-straight conference title. Naeher is currently ranked nationally in goals against average and save percentage and with her team heads to the Big Ten Tournament at Minnesota this week.
Compiling three saves in the victory, Naeher's shutout vs. Ohio State was the ninth this year for the sophomore and the six in conference play. The Connecticut-native's 0.52 goals against average is currently fourth in the country, while her .896 save percentage mark is 14th.
Naeher is Penn State's sixth Big Ten Player of the Week this year. Previously, Katie Schoepfer (Waterford, Conn.), Zoe Bouchelle (Cockeysville, Md.) and Tara Davies (Cape May Court House, N.J.) each received recognition at least once.
No. 7 Penn State travels to Minnesota this week and will start Big Ten Tournament action there on Thursday at noon ET vs. Iowa. Follow all of the Nittany Lions' Tournament action at GoPSUsports.com.
