Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Action Continues Friday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Nittany Lions' men's swimming and diving team is in eighth place after finals appearances from three athletes and a sixth place finish in the 400 medley relay.

In the opening event Thursday night, the 200-yard freestyle relay, Penn State's relay team of Vincent Reydams (Falls Church, Va.), Sean Swanepoel (Lincoln Mead, South Africa), Basil Kaaki (Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia) and Jason Goldner (Allentown, Pa.) posted a seventh-place finish in 1:19.67.

Junior Ryan DeWeese (Midlothian, Va.) followed in the finals of the 500 freestyle, finishing 17th in a time of 4:26.28. In the 200-yard IM, senior Sean Biedermann (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was 12th with a 1:48.06 and Vincent Reydams (Falls Church, Va.) finished 18th in the 50-free in 20.49.

In the final event of opening night, PSU's 400-yard medley relay team took sixth place. Pat Schirk (Pottstown, Pa.), Kyle Miranda (Louisville, Colo.), Tim Williams (North Bend, Ohio), and Swanepoel made up the relay team, who posted a time of 3:13.60, cutting 3.24 seconds off the Nittany Lions' relay team's best time this year.
