Student-Athlete Shadow Day provides area youth with an opportunity to experience a portion of a typical day for a Penn State student-athlete, as well as tour University academic and athletic facilities. Each student was paired with a student-athlete and attended at least one class, had lunch at the McElwain Dining Commons, and toured various buildings and facilities on campus, including the Pattee and Paterno Libraries, the Penn State All-Sports Museum, HUB, the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes, Beaver Stadium and Medlar Field. Some of the students took in a typical strength and conditioning session.

Student-Athlete Shadow Day is one of several activities Penn State student-athletes have participated in related to the 21st Annual National Student-Athlete Day.

Among the schools represented by students today were:

Bellwood-Antis Middle School, Boalsburg Elementary, Curwensville Elementary, Dickey Elementary, East Freedom Elementary, Foot of Ten Elementary, Houserville Elementary, Huntingdon Area Middle School, Lamar Township Elementary, Liberty-Curtain, Lock Haven Catholic School, Martinsburg Elementary, Mill Hall Elementary, Park Forest Middle School, Phillipsburg Elementary, Renovo Elementary, Roaring Spring Elementary, Spring Cove Middle School, Sugar Valley Elementary, West Branch Elementary, Woodward Elementary and Wright Elementary
