TEMPE, Ariz. - The 21st-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team scored its second consecutive mark of better than 195 Friday night at Arizona State, finishing second with a 195.050 in Tempe, Ariz. No. 22 Boise State (196.000) took home the team title while the Sun Devils (194.550) claimed third.
As a team, Penn State scored a 48.675 on vault, a 48.700 on bars, a season-high 48.725 on beam and a 48.950 on floor.
Sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) tied for first in the all-around with a 39.325, her fifth individual all-around title of the season. Sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) recorded a career-high 38.925 in the all-around to tie for fourth.
On vault, Personett was Penn State's top finisher with a third-place 9.850 and Rohrbaugh posted a season-high-tying 9.800 for eighth. Freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) tallied a 10th-place 9.700 and freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) notched a 9.675 while senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) and sophomore Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) both recorded a 9.650.
Smith led the Lions on the uneven bars with a career-high and fifth-place 9.825. Beck and Personett both tied for eighth with a score of 9.750 as Rohrbaugh again posted a career high, this time with a 9.700. Hover and freshman Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) rounded out the lineup with scores of 9.675 and 8.200.
Rohrbaugh finished second on the beam with a 9.825 to lead the Lions and Personett scored a season-high-tying 9.800 for fifth place. Freshman Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) notched a career-high-tying 9.775 and senior Lindsay Borkan (Long Grove, Ill.) posted a 9.625 in her first competitive action of the season after coming back from injury. McElwee and Hover scored a 9.700 and 9.500, respectively, for Penn State.
On floor, Personett earned her seventh individual title of the year with a 9.925 and Satterfield finished fourth with a 9.825. McElwee scored a career-high-tying 9.750 for eighth place and Beck and Smith each posted a 9.725 while Rohrbaugh closed out the lineup with a 9.600.
Penn State remains on the road, competing at No. 6 Alabama on March 14 before returning home to host Maryland, Rutgers and Nebraska on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall in a meet that will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
