AUSTIN, Texas - Nittany Lion standouts Chris Morrisey (Ligonier, Pa.) and Shawn Colligan (Bradford, Pa.) will kick off their outdoor seasons this week, representing Penn State in the decathlon at the storied Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium, on the campus of the University of Texas. The Nittany Lion duo will begin the two-day, ten-event competition on Wednesday at 12 p.m. CST.

Both Morrisey and Colligan are coming off stellar indoor seasons, including a runner-up finish from Morrisey in the Big Ten heptathlon with a provisional-qualifying and personal-best score of 5419. Colligan was also solid this winter, taking eighth at the conference championships and helping the Nittany Lions to a program-best fourth place finish in the team standings. In 2007, Morrisey and Colligan, both NCAA provisional qualifiers in the decathlon, recorded an outstanding two-three finish at the Big Ten Championships, after posting a one-two sweep in the multi-events at the prestigious Penn Relays.

The Texas Relays events looks to be one of the top decathlons of the entire Spring, with NCAA decathlon record holder and former Texas Longhorn Trey Hardee, as well as current Texas standout and multiple-time NCAA champ Donovan Kilmartin set to compete.
