STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - STATE COLLEGE, Pa.; May 9, 2008 - Penn State Nittany Lion lacrosse player Drew Adams (Springfield, Pa.) has been named the 2008 ECAC Lacrosse League Goalkeeper of the Year as voted on by the league's head coaches. The honor is the third straight for the Penn State keeper.
Adams was also named to the All-ECAC First Team for the third straight season. Adams ended the year with a 7.67 goals against average and 165 saves. He also had a superb .611 save percentage. Over the course of three seasons as the conference's top goalie, Adams has a sub-8.00 GAA, a save percentage over .600 and 482 saves.
Joining Adams on the All-ECAC teams is senior Andrew Mackrides (Newtown Square, Pa.). Mackrides was selected to the All-ECAC second team as a midfielder. Mackrides was third on Penn State this year with 16 points off 12 goals and four assists. He was second only to Adams with 42 ground balls and had a solid .611 shot-on-goal percentage. Mackrides leaves Penn State with 29 points off 22 goals and seven assists and 103 ground balls.
Penn State ended the season with a 7-7 mark, including a 12-11 overtime win over then No. 4 Georgetown in the season finale last weekend.
