UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Football's Derrick Williams (Greenbelt, Md.) and field hockey's Allison Scola (Hummelstown, Pa.) have been named this week's Penn State Student-Athletes of the Week. Williams recorded a career-high 165 all-purpose yards in just three quarters and with a goal and an assist, Scola led the Nittany Lions in a 2-0 victory.
A senior wide receiver, Williams started out the 2008 season as a force to be reckoned with. Coastal Carolina drew within 14-7 early in the second quarter, but Williams took the ensuing kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown to swing the momentum back to Penn State. This is the third time Williams has returned a kick for a touchdown in his career (2 punts, 1 kickoff).
The captain also made two catches for 45 yards, accumulating a career-high 165 all-purpose yards, leaving the game early in the third quarter. Williams has moved into fifth place on the school career receptions list with 119.

After losing four of its top five scorers from last season, Scola led the No. 6 Penn State offense with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over No. 8 Old Dominion last week.
The senior midfielder broke open a scoreless tie late in the game when she fired a pass off into the circle that allowed a teammate Jessica Longstreth (Richboro, Pa.) to score. Minutes later, Scola assured the Nittany Lions a victory when she tallied a goal off a penalty shot.
