UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Jan. 5, 2009 - The Nittany Lion basketball team will look to post its second straight win over a ranked team and third in its last six vs. ranked foes Tuesday night in the Bryce Jordan Center when it takes on No. 14 Purdue in a 9:00 p.m. tip on the Big Ten Network

Penn State Faculty and Staff Day will receive $5 tickets at the door with a valid University ID. Season ticket holders may also upgrade their seats to the lower level student section near the floor by contacting the ticket office prior to game time.

Penn State enters Tuesday's game with a 12-3 record (1-1 Big Ten) after a close, 65-61, loss at Wisconsin on Saturday. Senior Stanley Pringle led the Lions with a career-high 26 points (22 in the second half) in that game and fellow senior Jamelle Cornley added 20 points and seven boards. Sophomore Talor Battle ranks second in the Big Ten averaging 18.7 point per game, making Penn State the only team in the Big Ten with three players (Pringle is sixth and Cornley is ninth) ranked in the Top 10 in scoring.

Penn State downed No. 17 Indiana, 68-64 in overtime, on March 9 of last season in its last meeting with a ranked opponent. The Nittany Lions also dropped No. 7 Michigan State in the Jordan Center last February making two wins in their last five meetings with ranked opponents.

Purdue enters Tuesday's game after a bye week and brings an 11-3 mark and 0-1 Big Ten mark after losing its conference opener to Illinois at home. Ranked in the Top 25 all season, the Boilermakers won their first five before losses to No. 4 Oklahoma (87-82) and No. 5 Duke (76-60). They ran by then ranked Davidson (76-58), but dropped their Big Ten opener at home to Illinois (71-67) on Dec. 30. They are led by double-figure scorers in E'Twaun Moore (14.6), 2008 Big Ten Player of the Year Robbie Hummel (13.8 and 8.1 rebs) and 6-10 JaJuan Johnson (12.6).
