UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Feb. 6, 2009 - The Penn State Nittany Lions will return to the Jordan Center for the first time in nearly two weeks Sunday as they take on Wisconsin in a game critical to both teams conference standing and post-season hopes. Penn State, which has won nine of its last 10 Big Ten home games, returns to its home floor for the first time since upsetting No. 9 Michigan State in East Lansing last Sunday. The brawl with the Badgers is set for a 3:00 p.m. tip on the Big Ten Network.
It will be "Coaches vs. Cancer Day" at the BJC and fans are asked to wear white and "White Out Cancer." There will be a silent auction of sports memorabilia on the concourse with all proceeds supporting CVC. Among the items up for bid are autographed items from coaches Roy Williams (North Carolina), Tubby Smith (Minnesota), Bo Ryan (Wisconsin), Thad Matta (Ohio State), Matt Painter (Purdue), John Beilein (Michigan), Tom Crean (Indiana), Bruce Webber (Illinois) and Oliver Purnell (Clemson) as well as the entire 2008-09 Duke basketball team. Numerous autographed team items from Penn State, including Jamelle Cornley's No. 2 jersey, as well as items from John Cappelletti, Bill Cosby, Brittany Spears and the Philadelphia 76ers will be up for bid. A complete list of items is available at the link at the top of this story.
The Philadelphia World Series Trophy Tour will also be on the concourse with fans able to take photographs with the trophy.
Penn State brings a 17-6 record into the game and is tied for third in the Big Ten at 6-4. Jamelle Cornley had a stellar game at Michigan posting 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting and is averaging 20 points and 66 percent shooting from the floor in his last five games.
Wisconsin is coming off a 63-50 handling of No. 21 Illinois on Sunday and was led by Jason Bohannon's 20 points in that game. The Badgers are 13-9 overall and 4-6 in the Big Ten. They posted a close 65-61 victory over Penn State on Jan. 3 in Madison.
