UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team finished the first day of the Eagle Landing Invitational tied for seventh place. The tournament is being held in Jacksonville, Fla., and is hosted by James Madison University.
Sophomore Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) led the team, scoring 76 in the first two rounds to finish the day with 152. She is currently tied for 21st place. Sophomore Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) followed closely behind with a final score of 153, tying for 27th place. Junior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.), competing as an individual, is also tied for 27th place with 153.
Sophomore Victoria Arena (Lansdale, Pa.), junior Lindsay Cullen (Allen, Texas) and freshman Emily Riddle (St. Mary's, Pa.) scored 154, 155 and 156, respectively.
Chattanooga took hold of the lead today with a final score of 583. Kennesaw State University stayed close behind, finishing with 589. South Florida and East Carolina University tied for third place with a total of 592. The Lions had a steady showing on the course with a score of 305 in both of today's rounds, finishing with 610 and tying with the University of Illinois.
The tournament will continue on Tuesday, March 10, with one final round of play. Tee times on Tuesday will range between 8:30 a.m. and 10:36 a.m., with tournament-leaders beginning tee off at 10 a.m.
