UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., April 1, 2009 - The award-winning "Penn State Basketball Story" will air a bonus 30-minute episode featuring the Nittay Lions thrilling run through the National Invitation Tournament beginning Saturday, April 4 on selected state and national outlets.
The bonus episode is scheduled to air on WTAJ (channel 10) and WPSU (channel 3) locally in State College and elsewhere in Pennsylvania on Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia, FSN Pittsburgh, WNEP (Scranton Wilkes-Barre) and WFMZ (Lehigh Valley). The Big Ten Network will also carry the episode nationally. Check local listings for air time in your area.
Penn State recorded its school-record 26th win of the season on Tuesday downing Notre Dame, 67-59, in the NIT semifinals in Madison Square Garden. Penn State will take on Baylor, a 76-62 winner of San Diego State, Thursday in the NIT Final as the Nittany Lions look to claim the program's first-ever national tournament championship.
The Nittany Lions have also knocked off George Mason, in a thrilling overtime game punctuated by Talor Battle's last-second game tying three, Rhode Island and Florida on their march toward the NIT crown. The show will also feature Jamelle Cornley's heroic 23-point, 12-rebound performance with a heavily bandaged left shoulder at Florida and Andrew Jones' 16-point, 15-rebound effort in getting the best of All-American Luke Harangody of Notre Dame.
