Foley Confidently Tops Sunnehanna Leaderboard

June 13, 2009

JOHNSTON, Pa. - With the completion of the third round of the Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament, Penn State's Kevin Foley (Sommerville, N.J.) remains in first place. Foley has shot rounds of 61-68-70 (199) for an 11-under par three-day total, giving him a three-stroke cushion for the final round. The best amateur golfers in the country compete in this prestigious tournament, which has been host to the world's best in golf, including: Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, Davis Love and Phil Mickelson.

"Kevin was solid tee-to-green most of the day," said head coach Greg Nye. "He made about four putts between 6 and 15 feet, and left about another five out there. If he continues to play within himself and stays on plan, he has a great shot at winning on Sunday."
