Frequently Asked Questions for PSU Student Football Season Tickets

Aug. 4, 2009

If the information you request is not in our FAQ, please e-mail studenttickets@psu.edu or call 1-800-NITTANY.

Q. ARE ALL STUDENTS GUARANTEED TICKETS?
A. No. As established in 2008, only students who properly pre-register can participate in the ticket sale. Once again this year, following the completion of the pre-registration process, the demand for student tickets will likely exceed the supply. As a result, all students can not be accommodated in purchasing student season football tickets via the first-come, first-served online sale in June.

Q. WHY WAS FIRST COME - FIRST SERVED CHOSEN AS THE ONLINE SALES METHOD?
A. The desired outcome of the ticketing process for both the students and the administration is to assure that the allocation process provides Penn State students a fair opportunity to participate. While there are alternative methods of selling student season tickets, such as lottery or weighted system, the Penn State students have spoken clearly that they prefer the first-come, first served method. As such, Penn State Athletics has responded with the current online system.

Q. HOW MANY GAMES ARE INCLUDED IN THE FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET?
A. There are 8 home games for the 2009 Nittany Lion Football season. All student tickets sold are on a seasonal basis. Please check www.GoPSUsports.com for complete schedule and game times.

Q. HOW DO I PAY FOR MY TICKETS?
A. The online sale process requires a valid credit card at the time of purchase. Tickets will be charged to the account immediately upon a successful purchase, so students who are not sure that they want to purchase tickets should not. Credit cards that are not valid or cannot absorb the charge at the time of purchase will not be accepted and the student will not be issued a ticket.

Q. WILL I GET A WRITTEN CONFIRMATION OF MY TICKET PURCHASE?
A. No. A successful ticket purchase will result in the issuance of a confirmation/order number at the time of the online sale.

Q. HOW IS A STUDENT'S CLASS DESIGNATION DETERMINED FOR THE STUDENT FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET SALE?
A. Class status is established by the University and is directly tied into each student's completed and recorded credits as of May 15, 2009.

Q. HOW DO I UPGRADE MY CLASS DESIGNATION IF I ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF CREDITS?
A. There are no upgrades prior to the sale. Students successful in purchasing tickets will have the opportunity to request a change in their class designation between August 3rd at 8:00 AM and August 26th at 5:00 PM by contacting the Intercollegiate Athletics Customer Relations Center at 1-800-NITTANY. This request can only be submitted by students whose class status changes after May 15th as a result of the addition of credits after the date of the student ticket sale. These credits must also be reflected on the official university records in order for the Athletic Ticketing Services to adjust class designation. All requests will be reviewed by Athletic Ticketing Services through August 31st at 5:00 PM. All requesting students will be notified via e-mail of the final outcome.

Q. WHEN WILL TICKETS BE MAILED?
A. There will be no tickets or coupons to mail, as in prior years. All students successful in purchasing a season ticket will have his/her ticket information associated with their official Penn State id+ Card and can be accessed on game day by presenting his/her current student ID card.

Q. WHEN WILL MY TICKETS BE ASSOCIATED WITH MY ID CARD?
A. The student's tickets will be associated with their official Penn State id+ Card no later than August 17, 2009. All students who have season tickets will be able to access their "Account Manager" to see their tickets no later than August 17, 2009. We will post instructions on "Student Central" on how to access your individual "Account Manager". (ACCOUNT MANAGER IS EACH STUDENT'S INDIVIDUAL SITE TO MANAGE ALL OF YOUR TICKET INFORMATION. THIS INCLUDES INSTRUCTIONS ON BUYING AND SELLING INDIVIDUAL STUDENT GAME TICKETS.)

Q. IS THERE A METHOD TO PURCHASE STUDENT TICKETS IF I AM NOT SUCCESSFUL IN PURCHASING STUDENT SEASON TICKETS?
A. Yes. We are currently finalizing the process that will allow a student season ticket holder to sell individual game tickets to another student. The details and instructions for doing so will be made available no later than August 4, 2009, and will be posted on "Student Central".

Q. HOW DO I SELL OR FORWARD STUDENT TICKETS TO ANOTHER PENN STATE STUDENT?
A. This will be done entirely online. Each student will manage his/her online ticket account and have the ability to forward or sell a student ticket to another Penn State student on a single game basis. No student season tickets can be forwarded or sold - only individual games. All details and instruction for this process will be posted on "Student Central" no later than August 4, 2009.

Q. AT WHAT PRICE CAN I RESELL MY STUDENT TICKETS?
A. In response to a strong desire of the Penn State student body for Athletics to try to curb the scalping of student tickets at grossly inflated prices, 2009 student game tickets will only be available for resale on an individual game basis. Additionally, a maximum resale price, yet to be finalized and approved, will be implemented for the resale of all student tickets for all home games. The resale process for student tickets will be posted on "Student Central" no later than August 4, 2009.

Q. CAN A NON-PSU STUDENT ATTEND A GAME WITH ME?
A. Yes. However, because the management of all student tickets will occur online for the 2009 season, the final details and pricing of that process have not yet been confirmed. All information for non-student attendance will be posted on "Student Central" no later than August 4, 2009.

Q. HOW WILL TICKET BLOCKING FOR STUDENTS BE ADDRESSED?
A. Students will be able to block tickets in groups of 10 students minimum. Only Penn State students with valid student ID # will be eligible to attend football games as part of a student block. All information and instruction related to ticket blocking will be posted on "Student Central" no later than August 4, 2009.

Q. IS THERE ADA-ACCESSIBLE SEATING AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS?
A. Yes. Please contact Lisa Clark at 814-863-1000 or 1-800-NITTANY in advance to make special arrangements for the season.

Q. HOW CAN MY PARENTS/FRIENDS ORDER NON-STUDENT TICKETS TO FOOTBALL GAMES?
A. Some single game public tickets may be available online during the July 31st public sale at www.GoPSUsports.com. Please note that number of tickets available will vary by game.

Q. WILL I BE GIVEN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING POLICIES/PROCEDURES FOR FOOTBALL?
A. Yes. In addition to the instructions and information currently posted for the sale, all final student policies and procedures for 2009 will be posted on "Student Central" prior to August 28, 2009.
