UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State track and field teams will recognize its 2009 Big Ten Championship teams, including women's outdoor track and field and women's outdoor cross country, at 2 p.m. this afternoon, just prior to the elite invitational sections at the Penn State National.
The Nittany Lions claimed a pair of conference titles in 2009, taking its second-consecutive Big Ten Outdoor Championship - with a narrow quarter point victory - last May, and would go on to win the 2009 Big Ten Cross Country title at their home course in November. The women's track and field effort was highlighted by a pair of victories by then-sophomore Shavon GReaves (Lakewood, N.J.), while Bridget Franek's individual win in cross country paced the Lion effort.
