Q & A With Junior Dineen Notman

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Dineen Notman

Notman is a junior out of Syracuse, N.Y. She is majoring in professional golf management.

Q: How did you first get involved in the game of golf?

A: My grandparents played. I grew up with it. In the summers, I would always go and play. The main attraction was the golf cart, really. The more and more I got older I just got more into it.

Q: What was your first competitive golf experience?

A: My first competitive golf experience would be at the junior tour tournaments. It would be nine holes in the summertime. That's how I got into it. Each summer I would keep doing those.

Q: Where did you grow up and what was it like?

A: I grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. and I loved it. I would definitely say I grew up with golf there and it was a good experience.

Q: Why did you choose Penn State?

A: Great people and a great atmosphere. Everything about it. The community, the golf, it's very good.

Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you have had to overcome either on or off of the golf course?

A: My freshman year I tore my hip labrum. That has been the biggest challenge, coming back from that. Finally, the hard work is paying off.

Q: What lessons have you learned at Penn State?

A: You grow up. Each year, I feel like you learn about being a teammate. I feel like a lot of the lessons you learn prepare you for life. That would be the biggest thing, how to become a better person.

Q: Who is your role model and why?

A: My grandpa would be my role model. He passed away two years ago, but he got me into it. He taught me how to act and enjoy the game. Just my personality, I feel like he set the tone for it.

Q: What would you like to accomplish by the end of your Penn State career?

A: I would like to get back and be playing. I'm staying here this summer and working on my game to be ready to compete next semester.

Q: What are your plans for your future after Penn State?

A: I want to coach. I'm in the professional golf management program. Right after school, I want to coach a collegiate team.

Q: What are some things you want to do in your life?

A: I like to help people. I want to travel and have different experiences around the world. There's so many things that I want to do.
