Rio Verde Final Results

On the final day of the Rio Verde Collegiate the women's golf team recorded a score 322 and finished in 15th place overall. They finished with a tournament total of 958 (317-319-322) leaving them +106 for the tournament.

Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) finished as the top Nittany Lions. They each carded a three-round score of 236, which was +23 and a tie for 43rd place overall. Fanelli had a team-best 77 in the third round, while Ransone put together an 83.

Junior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) competed as an individual and finished third on the team with a three-round score of 243 (81-78-84). Freshman Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) finished one stroke behind Malcolmson and was +31. Junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) notched a score of 247 in the tournament, while freshman Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.) recorded a 251 to round out the starters for the Nittany Lions.

Michigan became the first team to win the Rio Verde Collegiate twice, after its team posted an 881 through three days, leaving them at +29 for the tournament and 14 strokes ahead of Minnesota. Michigan's Ashley Bauer won the individual title with a four-under-par 209 for the tournament, giving her the lowest three-round score in tournament history and a record for the largest margin of victory in tournament history, which was nine strokes.

The Nittany Lions will return to action in Hilton Head, S.C., for the Low Country Intercollegiate. The tournament, which is hosted by Western Carolina and Wofford, will take place from Friday to Sunday, March 12-14.
