Columbus, Ohio - Senior Kevin Foley (Somerville, N.J.) fired an unprecedented 69-68-68, 205 tournament-total to occupy the top seat of the Kepler Intercollegiate leaderboard. Foley's 8-under-par three-round total earned him first-place medalist honors, a 4-stroke cushion between him and second-place honoree, No. 23 Corey Nagy of Charlotte. His 205 total set the individual scoring record at the Kepler, bettering the previous record of 210 set in 1991, 1998, and 2000. Foley's previous first-place finish came as he tied for the title at the Boilermaker Invitational on April 19, 2009. This marks Foley's fifth tournament title of his Lion Career and first of the season.

"Kevin was just fantastic," said head coach Greg Nye. "He simply wore out the field. I am thrilled for him in winning this historic and prestigious event here in Columbus. With the Rutherford and the Big Ten Championships coming up in the next three weeks it is great he posted a first-place finish leading into those events."
The Penn State men's golf team participated in a nail biting finish taking home second-place honors just two strokes back of tournament champion, Eastern Michigan (861). The Nittany Lions carded rounds of 286-289-288 (863, +11).
"We did not come out of the gate very quickly today, as we entered the back nine four or five shots out," said Nye. "Within three or four holes to play we pulled even and nearly pulled off the comeback."
Senior Jim Markovitz's (Bridgeville, Pa.) consistent play aided the Lions to the front of the pack; tying for 11 at 5-over par. Markovitz carded a tournament total, 218 with rounds of 73-72-73. Finishing just 1-stroke back of Markovitz was junior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) who tied for 13 with rounds of 71-75-73 (219). McDonagh fired a 2-over-par final round to enhance him to a 13-place finish at 6-over-par. Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) and freshman Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) both walked off the Scarlet links tied for 27 with 10-over-par (223) performances. Howe carded rounds of 75-74-74, while Marin fired a 73-75-75.
"We did not have a score over 75 for the event on one of the best golf courses in collegiate golf," commented Nye.
Jason Cohan (Wayne, Pa.), Penn State's individual competitor, improved from his previous round by three strokes, carding a final-round 72. Cohan's 13-over-par tournament total came from rounds of 79-75-72 (226).
The Nittany Lions will travel back home for their next tournament as they are hosting the Rutherford Intercollegiate, April 24-25.
