UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following some outstanding early season performances at the Florida Relays, the Nittany Lion women's track and field team has vaulted eight spots in the latest United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, appearing at No. 6 in this week's standings.

Pacing the Nittany Lions during the first competition of the outdoor season last weekend, was junior Shavon Greaves (Lakewood, N.J.), who posted second-place finishes in both the 100- and 200-meters. Greaves' blistering personal-best 23.07 was good for second in the 200 on the weekend, and is also the second-fastest effort in the country this year, while her 11.33 in the 100 is ranked third among NCAA Eastern competitors and eighth nationally.

Also running well last weekend as senior Aleesha Barber (Decatur, Ga.), who opened with an impressive 13.37 in the 100-meter hurdles - the eighth-fastest time on the NCAA Eastern descending order list. Barber would go on to 54.29 in her first-ever appearance in the open 400-meter outdoors. Her time is also a top 15 mark in the NCAA East.

In the field, junior Karlee McQuillen (Johnstown, Pa.) led the Nittany Lions with a toss of 161-10 (49.32) in the javelin - the second-best effort in the NCAA East.

The Nittany Lions will continue their outdoor campaign this weekend, traveling to Tempe, Ariz., for the Sun Angel Track Classic at Arizona State. Competition is scheduled for Saturday, April 10.
