Nittany Lion Wrestlers Cyler Sanderson and Cameron Wade Earn National All-Academic Laurels

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Two members of the Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team have earned academic All-American honors from the sport's national governing body, the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Senior Cyler Sanderson (Heber City, Utah) and sophomore Cameron Wade (Twinsburg, Ohio) have been named to the national NWCA All-Academic team.

Sanderson became a two-time All-American this year after a sixth place finish at 157 pounds. The Heber City, Utah, native earned a 3.24 grade point average in integrated arts and will graduate in May. A four-year national qualifier, Sanderson ended his collegiate career with a 114-33 career record with 18 pins, seven technical falls and 25 majors.

Wade made his first trip to nationals this year after qualifying at heavyweight with a fifth place finish at Big Tens. The Twinsburg, Ohio, native went 2-2 in his first trip to the NCAA Championships. He totaled a 3.46 grade point average in finance and heads into his junior year with a 37-25 overall record.

Head coach Cael Sanderson's team placed 15th in the final NWCA Academic Top 25 with a 3.06 team GPA (slightly up from last year's 3.05). Penn State has finished among the nation's top 25 every year except two since 1991.

New season tickets for next season can now be purchased (current season ticket holders will receive their option to renew later in the fall). Season ticket prices for 2010-11 will be $42 for adults and $28 for youth (18 and under) with payments being made in full at the time of the order. A $5 per order handling fee will be added. Reserved seat locations will be assigned and Nittany Lion Club members will be assigned best available seats according to their active membership and point level. Following fulfillment of all Nittany Lion Club season ticket requests, seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. To order tickets, please call Joel Diamond at 814-867-2557.
