Jan. 10, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Ability Athletics is pleased to invite members of the Penn State and central Pennsylvania community to a motivational speech by former PSU wrestler and Paralympic Athlete Rohan Murphy on Wednesday, Jan. 12. The speech will take place at the HUB Auditorium on the University Park campus at 8:00 p.m.

Rohan will share his experiences as an athlete trainer and participant in the Paralympic Games. Rohan, the CEO & founder of CatchSpark.com, will discuss topics of motivation, belief in young athletes, dedication and discipline.

Murphy, who lost his legs at birth, participated in wrestling his freshman year in high school. While achieving success at the high school level, Murphy moved on to wrestle for Penn State. An accomplished powerlifter, Murphy has competed in numerous international competitions across the globe representing the United States.

Recently, Rohan has been featured in Sports Illustrated, ABC News and in a Nike commercial, striving to motivate and inspire people to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. This past November, Murphy founded CatchSpark.com, an inspirational and motivational community that connects people, friends and family through challenges, stories, quotes, videos and more.

The event is co-sponsored by the Athletics Council for Diversity and Inclusion Committee (ACDI). For more information, please contact Denise St. Pierre at dxs10@psu.edu.
