UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse player Austin Kaut (Morton, Pa.) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 6. The award is the second this year for the freshman goalie.
Kaut tallied 16 saves in Penn State's 6-5 triple-overtime loss to No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday. The rookie now has a superb 6.04 goals against average with a .683 save percentage. Kaut has faced 106 shots this year and has played every minute for Penn State through three games.
Penn State is 1-2 on the year, 0-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Nittany Lions will visit Villanova on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. game. Penn State then hosts Rutgers on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bigler Field.
