Men's Golf Holds On To First Place Going into Final Round at Rutherford Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 16-team field of the Rutherford Intercollegiate wrapped up the second round Saturday evening with Penn State leading the way posting a two-round total of 586 (290-296). Penn State has a nine stroke advantage over Army and Delaware who are tied for second with scores of 595.

Senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) remains tied for first, squaring up with Delaware's Justin Martinson's rounds of 70-73 (143), placing the duo at 1-over par going into the final round. Senior Tommy McDonagh (East Norwalk, Conn.) climbed two places on the individual leader board with consistent play through the second round giving him a combined total of 146 (73-73). Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) will go into the final round tied for 16 with an 8-over par 150 (72-78). Ernesto Marin (Miami, Fla.) is tied with DeGol for 16 having shot consistent rounds of 75 (150). Sophomore Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W.Va.) improved play by four strokes in the second round. He carded a birdie and an eagle in the second round to place him tied for 32 with a 12-over par 154 (79-75).

Individuals Matthew Porter (Cortland, N.Y.) and Nick Archambault (Q.C., Canada) both improved play between rounds to finish with two-round totals of 154 and 155, respectively. Porter sits tied for 32 with Archambault following close behind tied for 39. Junior John Burke (Bay Village, Ohio) will go into the third round tied for 60, carding rounds of 78-81 (159).
