Ceresko, Vosters Pair Up to Compete in Summer Tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Two members of the Penn State women's golf team are set to participate in the Second Annual Hooters Women's Collegiate Team Championship presented by the National Golf Coaches Association. Sophomores Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) will tee off Tuesday (Aug. 2) at Achasta, by Reynolds in Dahlonega, Ga.

The only summer event played with teams of two players, each from the same university, will be composed of 58 teams: 47 Division I, six Division II and five Division III programs. The tournament will consist of 54 holes through three days of play. The first day of play (Aug. 2) will be alternate shot. The second day (Aug. 3) will be best ball, with the final day (Aug. 4) being a combined score of the two players.

The Championship will be played on the par-72, 6,995-yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The first two rounds of play will start at 8:00 a.m. with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Ceresko had a tremendous freshman campaign, accumulating the second-best average on the team of players who participated in more than 20 rounds with a 78.3. Her best round came with a 73 at the Starmount Fall Classic. She finished the season as one of three Nittany Lions to finish in the top five in a tournament as she tied for fifth place at the Starmount Fall Classic. Her score of 147 tied for the 10th-best two-round score in school history.

Vosters competed in 21 rounds as a freshman, one of six golfers to do so. She compiled the fourth-best average on the team of players who participated in 20 or more rounds with a 78.9. She recorded her career-best score of 73 at the Nittany Lion Invitational and had one top-10 finish as she tied for eighth place at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate. Vosters also led the team at the Big Ten Championships with a four-round score of 305 (the fourth-best four-round score in school history) and a tie for 23rd place.

The Penn State women's golf team will open its season at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C., from Sept. 11-13. Penn State will also host the 36th Nittany Lion Invitational from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
