UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., - The Fifth Annual Penn State Football Letterman's Club golf outing on Saturday was a huge success as more than 100 former players and current coaches and staff enjoyed a great day at the Penn State Blue Course.
Players spanning more than 50 years of Nittany Lion Football returned to campus for golf, dinner and fellowship. Head Coach Joe Paterno and his wife, Sue, joined the former players for dinner. Former "Linebacker U." All-American Greg Buttle served as Master of Ceremonies for the dinner and awards presentations.
Among the former players who returned were: Frank Ahrenhold, Jeremy Boone, Gino Capone, Tom Cherry, Tom Donchez, Omar Easy, Scott Fitzkee, Jason Ganter, Tony Johnson, Mike Malinoski, Lance Mehl, Rich Milot, Greg Murphy, Tom Odell, Mike Orsini, Wally Richardson, Mark Rubin, Brad Scovill, Kevin Suhey, Dan Wallace, Pat Weber, Leo Wisniewski and Sam Sobczak, who was a letterman on the 1958-60 Nittany Lion teams.
Current Nittany Lion assistant coaches and former players Galen Hall and Mike McQueary also were among the participants.
The winning team was comprised of a trio of recent Nittany Lions - Jesse Alfreno, Josh Matzkin and Colin Wagner - who tallied a 58 in the scramble event. The second place team (59) was comprised of Scott Fitzkee, Joe Lally, Mark Latsko and Doug Pysher. The third place team (60) was made up of Blaise Iorio, Kasey Koontz, Ross Muir and Curt Reese.
