UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Nittany Lion soccer great and current New York Red Bull Corey Hertzog returned to Happy Valley on Tuesday afternoon, visiting Penn State Day Camp where he spoke to the attendees, posed for photos, and signed autographs.

Hertzog, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Monday, recently returned from England, where New York captured the Emirates Cup. The Red Bulls defeated French Ligue 1 title favorites Paris Saint-Germain and drew with storied English Premier League side Arsenal to take home the prestigious prize.

The NCAA leader in goals and points in 2010, Hertzog was selected by New York with the No. 13 pick in the first round of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft in January. The Red Bulls are currently in third place of the MLS' Eastern Conference with 30 points, possessing a 6-5-12 record.

Hertzog, a 2010 NSCAA Second Team All-American and unanimous First Team All-Big Ten honoree, emerged as the nation's most dangerous striker in his junior year, putting together the most productive offensive season by a Nittany Lion in 55 years and one of the greatest in Big Ten history.

Hertzog netted 20 goals, including six game winners, in 2010, tied for the most in Big Ten soccer history. The Hermann Trophy semifinalist's 46 points places him second in the Penn State and Big Ten record books, trailing only Dick Packer (50, 1955) and Indiana's Aleksey Korol (50, 1999), respectively.

The 2010 TopDrawerSoccer.com National and Philly Soccer News Player of the Year departed Happy Valley ranked 13th on Penn State's career points list, totaling 80 points (33 goals, 14 assists) in three years (61 games).

The 2011 Penn State men's soccer team reports for training camp on Wed., Aug. 10, with its first practice set for the following morning. The Nittany Lions begin their preseason schedule on Tues., Aug. 16 when they host Hartwick in an exhibition contest set for 7:30 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.
