UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior midfielder Jess Rosenbluth (Gladwyne, Pa.) and sophomore forward Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.) were voted to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District II First Team on Friday. Senior midfielder Ali Schaefer (Las Vegas, Nev.) made the Second Team to round out the Penn State contingent.
Rosenbluth, a security & risk analysis major, boasts a 3.58 grade-point average, while having a career year on the field. Rosenbluth has tallied two goals and 10 assists, second in the Big Ten and in the top three for most by a PSU senior.
Up top, Hayes has been phenomenal on the field, owning the NCAA Division I lead in goals (26) and points (60). Hayes is majoring in kinesiology with a 3.35 cumulative GPA. Both Hayes and Rosenbluth garnered their first Academic All-District recognitions and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
On the Academic All-District II Second Team was Schaefer, a film & video major. Schaefer gathered a 3.73 GPA en route to a five-goal, four-assist campaign in 2011.
Student-athletes are eligible for the All-District nominations if they own a cumulative GPA over 3.30, are a sophomore or higher in class and have been at an institution for at least a year.
The Nittany Lions compete at Lakeside Field for the Big Ten semifinals this afternoon against fifth-seeded Minnesota at 4:45 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
