Penn State Fencers to Compete in Junior Olympics

UNIVERSITY PARK. Pa; - UNIVERSITY PARK. Pa; February 15, 2012 - Members of the fencing team will travel to Salt Lake City this weekend, Feb. 17-20 to compete in the Junior Olympics Fencing Championships. The Nittany Lions will be represented by Nicole Glon, Alina Samorodov, Jeffrey Miller and Alex Schneller. Additionally, fellow Nittany Lions Rylan Delap, Ben Freiman, Sean Moran, Mitchell Culler and Elizabeth Rapp will be competing individually at the four-day event.

This past weekend Penn State dominated the Duke Invitational going undefeated against UNC, Brandeis, Duke and the Air Force. The team is continuing to thrive off of the individual successes of key fencers for them including Oksana Samorodov who was named a Primetime Performer of the Week by College Fencing 360 this week.

Coach Kaidanov and the Nittany Lions are looking to expand their collection of National Championship titles to 13 this March. It would be the teams third title in four years.
