Ability Athletics Hosts Inaugural Jay Thomas Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Ability Athletics program in conjunction with the Adaptive Outreach Club will host the inaugural Jay Thomas Wheelchair Basketball Tournament this Sunday, Dec. 9 (11 a.m.) at the White Building.

The day-long tournament will consist of four-person basketball teams contesting for a first-place price. Cost for a team is $28. Individuals without a team may play for $7 and will be matched up with other participants. All proceeds will benefit THON.

Jay Thomas passed away on Sept. 21 just two weeks shy of his 40th birthday. One of Thomas's main passions was THON to help raise money for pediatric cancer research. A member of Penn State Ability Athletics, Thomas was a member of the wheelchair basketball team. Thomas aspired to provide rehabilitation services to fellow amputees.

The Penn State White Building is located off Shortlidge Drive. Parking for the White Building can be found in the HUB Parking Deck on Shortlidge Drive.
