Kaito Streets Takes First Place at January NAC

Jan. 21, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Only a few Nittany Lion fencers traveled to Louisville to compete in the four-day January North American Cup, but those who competed performed well. This month's NAC hosted the Juniors competition for fencers under the age of 20.

Standout Penn State freshman Kaito Streets continued his outstanding season with his first place finish, out of over 200 competitors, in the Junior Men's Saber competition. Streets also placed first in the same event at the November NAC. In the two NCAA meets that Penn State has competed in thus far this season, Streets has had an impressive record of 20-4. Team newcomer Adam Lewicki also competed in the men's saber event, and took 23rd place.

The women's team was represented in Louisville as well. All-American sophomore Alina Antokhina took home fifteenth place in the Junior Women's Foil competition.

Next up for the Nittany Lion fencers is a trip to Queens, N.Y. for a tough NCAA competition. The team will take on Columbia, Harvard, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and St. John's, and action is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday January 26.
