UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman forward Hannah Hoenshell collected College Hockey America Rookie of the Week laurels, the conference office announced Monday. The award is the first of her career for the Plano, Texas, native, who tallied four points on a pair of goals and assists in a 10-0 win over Chatham Jan. 4.
Hoenshell notched her first goal in the latter half of the opening period before adding to the total in the final minutes of the second frame. The Texan added helpers on goals from Jordin Pardoski (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and Jenna Welch (Austin, Texas) in the second and third periods, respectively. Hoenshell finished with a team-high plus-4 alongside Pardoski and Sarah Wilkie (Ashby, Mass.).
The offensive fireworks propelled Hoenshell to a tie for second on the team in goals (7) with Jill Holdcroft (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.), while bringing her season total of assists to three.
Hoenshell joins teammates Micayla Catanzariti (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) in earning the honor. Classmate Shannon Yoxheimer (Jackson, Mich.) also grabbed CHA Rookie of the Month for November.
