Nittany Lion Freshmen Have Successful Weekends in Junior Competitions

BUDAPEST, Hungary - While the Penn State fencing team was off from competition this past weekend, a pair of Nittany Lions were having standout performances in two separate Junior competitions.

Freshman Kaito Streets qualified for the United States Junior World Championship Men's Saber team after finishing fourteenth out of 130 fencers in Budapest, Hungary.

Meanwhile, newcomer to the Penn State team, Adam Lewicki, competed in the Junior Olympic Championships in Baltimore, Md. Lewicki finished tied for third place in the men's saber competition at the four-day event that spanned from February 15-18. Penn State's Alex Schneller also competed in the men's saber completion and finished tied for 23rd place.

Next up for the Nittany Lions is a trip to Temple for the final dual meet before NCAA Regionals. The team will take on Duke, St. John's, Princeton, and UPenn on February 23.
