UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Former Penn State keeper Erin McNulty (Winnipeg, Manitoba) has accepted an invitation to be part of the Canadian National Team EXCELeration camp beginning on Friday. The 23-player squad in camp will work on developing into potential Canada's Women's National Team players. The EXCELeration program has been put in place by the Canadian coaching staff to help bridge the gap from the U-20 level to the senior program.
McNulty played a huge role in leading the Nittany Lions to the College Cup title game in San Diego, Calif. In the Sweet Sixteen against Michigan and down 2-0 in PKs, the keeper made three-straight saves and Penn State converted on its next three kicks to stun the Wolverines and advance. McNulty followed with a shutout against Duke and a remarkable performance against her former squad, Florida State, in the national semifinals.
Penn State has been well represented on the Canadian National team. Most recently, alums Erin McLeod and Carm Moscato played significant roles in helping Team Canada win the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
