LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Penn State men's golf team is in 14th place after shooting a 601 (294-307) across 36 holes at the Windon Memorial Classic.
Junior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) and sophomore JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) are leading the Nittany Lions at The Knollwood Club, as both are tied-for-37th after two rounds of play with a 148 mark. Junior Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) is two strokes behind his teammates after posting a pair of 75's in rounds one and two. McDonald-Smith is tied-for-46th heading into the final 18 holes.
Sophomore Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) shot a 155 on day one at the Windon Memorial and is tied-for-75th overall, while sophomore Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) is two positions behind Houston on the leader board with a 156 total.
Overall, Kent State leads the 16-team field with a 7-under-par 569 (283-286). Michigan's Chris O'Neill currently leads all individual competitors with a 5-under 139 total.
The final round of the Windon Memorial Classic will kick off Monday morning with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
