UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State students who do not have season football tickets will have an opportunity to attend this Saturday's home opener through a special student ticket offer.
Students from all Penn State campuses and the World Campus will be able to buy two tickets for the Eastern Michigan game on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. through kickoff. The tickets can be purchased at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park box office across the street from Beaver Stadium's Gate A.
Each student will be able to purchase two tickets at $40 per ticket and must present a valid Penn State ID Card (or photocopy for World Campus students) to secure the tickets for the 12 p.m. contest. All sales will be cash or credit card. Checks will not be accepted.
The seats for this special student ticket offer will not be located in the 21,000-seat student section in Beaver Stadium.
The undefeated 1973 Penn State squad will be recognized at halftime Saturday. More than 50 members of the team are scheduled to attend the reunion, including John Cappelletti, the 1973 Heisman Trophy winner.
Coach Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lions opened the season with a 23-17 win over Syracuse last Saturday in MetLife Stadium. Starting his first career game, quarterback Christian Hackenberg was 22 of 31 for 278 yards, with two touchdown passes of 50-plus yards to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. The Penn State defense held Syracuse to 11 first downs and just 71 rushing yards and 3.5 yards per play overall.
Public tickets for the Eastern Michigan game, as well as Penn State season and single game tickets are available at GoPSUsports.com or by calling 1-800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The Beaver Stadium ticket office near Gate E will open Saturday at 8 a.m. for day of game sales.
