Cougar Classic Round 2 Results
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team continued the consistent golf as they shot a second round score of 302 to put the girls at 601 after two rounds. Penn State sits in 13th place, just six strokes behind Tennessee. The third and final round of the Cougar Classic takes place tomorrow, September 10 with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m.
Junior Katlyn Elliott (Peterbrough, Ont.) continued to play great to start the season as she posted a second round 73 to put her at two shots over par for the whole tournament. Elliott is in a tie for 29th place with one round to play. Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) improved her score from rounds one to two as she shot a 74, two shots better than round one. Ceresko is in a tie for 49th place with fellow teammate and senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.), who shot back-to-back rounds of 75 to put them both at six shots over par.
Head Coach Denise St. Pierre commented on the team's performance today, saying, "We still need to put four scores up as a team. Katlyn has been great for us along with Ellen and Christina. But in this field, we need four great scores. We reviewed our game plans and are looking to have some solid play tomorrow." Clemson took over the lead as they shot a second round score of 282 to put them at 567, six shots ahead of second place Mississippi State.
Sloan Shanahan of Clemson and Ally McDonald of Mississippi State are tied for the lead individually as they both have 138 strokes after two rounds.
