Penn State Moves Into First Place as NCAA Championships Continue

COLUMBUS, Oh. -

The Nittany Lions wrapped up day three of competition at the 2014 NCAA Fencing Championships and have moved past Princeton for the first place spot with 152 bout victories. The team will start the fourth and final day of competition in first place tomorrow.

As each event has entered the third round, the standings are as follows:

In men's epee, sophomore Yasser Mahmoud is currently in 9th place and freshman Conor Shepard in 18th.

In men's foil, sophomore Nobuo Bravo is currently holding down the number three spot with senior David Willette right behind him in fourth.

In men's saber, sophomore Kaito Streets is in 1st place with senior Adrian Bak not too far behind in fourth.

The Nittany Lions continue on their hunt to improve on last year's third place finish at Nationals and are searching for its thirteenth National Championship, and its third in the last six years at this weekend's competition.
