UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After helping the No. 7 Penn State men's gymnastics team to its sixth consecutive team title of the 2014 season, sophomore Trevor Howard (Columbus, Ohio) has earned his fourth Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor of the 2014 season, as announced by the conference this afternoon. The award brings his career total to 12 weekly honors.
Howard led the Nittany Lions with two individual titles in Penn State's 440.200 - 431.500 victory against sixth-ranked Minnesota in the regular season home finale.
Registering a pair of season-high marks, Howard swung to a first-place finish on the rings (15.750), while also securing a top score of 15.200 on the parallel bars. He also placed fourth on the vault (15.00) and fifth in the floor exercise (14.900) to round out top-five finishes in all of his events.
Penn State will hit the road this weekend, traveling to Puerto Rico to take on members of the Puerto Rican national team Friday, as well as gymnasts from Argentina, Mexico and Big Ten foe, Michigan in an exhibition-type competition in San Juan, Puerto Rico. PSU will open competition Friday, March 7th.
