PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 26, 2014 - Penn State recorded a solid day-three effort at Penn Relays earning multiple top five honors and season-best performances.
Michael Shuey (Johnsonburg, Pa.) won the Championship of America section of the javelin throw with a mark of 234-11. In the college division, Cole Proffitt (Manheim, Pa.) posted a second-place finish with a new personal record of 224-4.
Steve Waithe (Parkville, Md.) secured a first-place finish in the Championship of America triple jump with new personal-best 53-2.75. Waithe's jump measures the longest in Division I this outdoor season.
The 4x400m squad of Bernard Bennett-Green (Elkins Park, Pa.), Brandon Bennett-Green (Philadelphia, Pa.), Alex Shisler (State College, Pa. ) and Byron Robinson (Chesapeake, Va. ) posted a first-place finish clocking 3:07.94 in the 4x400m ICAAAA.
A 7:18.99 finish in the 4x800m Championship of America event earned a runner-up status for the quartet of Wade Endress (Altoona, Pa.), Za'Von Watkins (Liverpool, N.Y.), Ryan Brennan (Chester, N.Y.) and Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio).
On the women's side, the 4x400 foursome notched a Top 5 finish in the Championship of America 4x400m. Dynasty McGee (Flint, Mich), Mahagony Jones (Cleveland, Ohio), Tichina Rhodes (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Kiah Seymour (Washington D.C.) clocked a season-best 3:33.10.
Also turning in a top five finish on the track was the 4x200m team with a 1:33.09 finish in the Championship of America event. Mahagony Jones, Dynasty McGee, Brittney Howell (Wyncote, Pa.), and Kiah Seymour clocked the new Penn State record.
Other championship section finishers include Evonne Britton (El Paso, Texas) who added a sixth-place finish in the 100mH.
